Mara Pell is a fictional illustrator from Utrecht who began by self-publishing photocopied mini-comics and hand-pulled poster editions for friends' band nights and poetry readings. After studying printmaking and vernacular graphic design, she developed a signature language of awkward figures, soft inks, and comedic symbolism inspired by folk talismans, outsider art, and thrift-store divination decks. She now works from a tiny shared studio above a used bookstore, building images that turn private anxieties into affectionate visual jokes.
